Read Alouds

Read alouds help youth become more engaged in reading by working on their public speaking skills and paying attention to their peers. Listening to books being read aloud has proven to help build reading skills. Furthermore, participants begin to show empathy for their peers and learn to help them pronounce hard words while listening to reading.

Guest speakers are also encouraged to lead read alongs of their books. They can read, help the kids read, and lead discussions to deepen reading skills and comprehension.
